Duplicate records are not always recognized as such by the IMS. Super Users can and should, when appropriate, mark records belonging to their entity as duplicates of other records. This allows a Super User from the other record's Primary entity to resolve the duplicate.
Identify the record you want to mark as a duplicate by using Quick Search or browsing the tree view of People in the Resources tab.
Right-click the name and choose Mark as duplicate of . . . . (Alternatively, from the menu bar, choose Resources > Mark as duplicate of . . . .). The Mark as Duplicate dialog will open.
Click on the … button. You can then search for the proposed Master record either by:
typing in a name in the top box and clicking Find; or
browsing the list of an entity’s Persons by selecting the entity in the bottom box and clicking Find.
When you have identified the proposed Master record, click the name and click Select.
The Mark as Duplicate dialog will reappear. If the information displayed is correct, click OK; if there is an error, click Cancel and begin again.
When you click OK, the system will confirm that the record has been marked as a duplicate, or report if there were any problems. When a duplicate is marked, a message will automatically be sent to the Super Users in the Primary Entity of the Master record informing them that the duplicate needs to be resolved.
