Information about people is one of the key resource types in Archie. Each person registered in the system is stored with a personal 'record'. When you look under Resources, you can find the people involved with an entity (e.g., a Review Group or a Centre) listed in that entity’s People folder, categorized by the role they have in that entity. A person can have roles in several entities, and will be listed in each of these entities’ People folder, but it is still the same single record you see. Likewise, you may also find the same person using the Search function, or through their role in relation to a document, but is still that single, unique record you come back to.
Seen as a whole, the People resources can be described as the shared address book of The Cochrane Collaboration.
Each person must have a Primary Entity. Aside from the person in question, only the Primary entity can edit a person's record.

If you a person is no longer contributing to your entity and has no other role within the Collaboration, you may decide to remove the record from Archie, see Deleting a person. However, if the person is linked to a previously published review, you will not be able to do this. Instead, you can mark the person's record 'Inactive' by unchecking the Active box on the Info tab of the person's Properties. This will add a Reason field where you can enter a reason for marking the person's record 'Inactive'. It is important that you check the Roles tab on the person's Properties before marking a record 'Inactive' to ensure that the person has no other roles within the Collaboration. If the person does have other roles, you should instead mark the role in you entity as inactive, see Entity roles.
