This section is still being revised.
The messaging system in Archie provides functions that are especially important for people who manage an entity, such as RGCs.
Currently, the messages being sent are:
System messages - such as information about updates to the system. These can be sent by the System Administrators to all users.
Entity messages - such as messages about the records of an entity's members. Such messages are sent automatically by the system, based on the subscriptions you have - see Subscribing to messages. Entity messages can include:
Messages to Super Users about duplicates - so they know when a new one needs resolving.
Messages to Super Users about suggested changes for persons in their entity.
When you have unread messages, the
icon will appear
next to your name in the toolbar.
Go to the Organizer tab
Under Messages, click the type of message you want to read. This opens the Messages window, showing the latest message of the chosen type.
Go to the Organizer tab
Under Messages, click the type of message you want to delete, or click the Messages heading. This opens the Messages window.
Highlight the message(s) you wish to delete
Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
When you wish to highlight a single message, simply click the message. When you want to highlight multiple messages, there are two ways you can do this: either by using the Ctrl key to highlight messages one at a time, or by using the Shift key to highlight a series of messages.
Click the first message you want to highlight.
While holding down the Ctrl key, click each additional message you want to highlight. Each message will be highlighted.
Click the first message in the series you want to highlight.
Hold down the Shift key and click the last message in the series you want to highlight. All messages in between will also be highlighted.
You can change the settings for what messages you receive, and how. You can do this both for yourself and also for any people you have edit permissions for. To view or modify a person’s message subscriptions, go to the Settings tab of the person Properties, and click Edit Notifications to open the Notifications window. The possible subscriptions listed in this window are based on the person’s Entity Roles. Most persons can subscribe only to system messages and notifications about changes to their own record, but Super Users and RGCs have access to additional subscriptions.
